William J S Howard

Bill’s working career has involved a wide range of engineering projects, from minor works contracts to multi million pound developments, in both the UK and Internationally. Previously, he has worked for a number of Consulting Engineers namely; Oscar Faber and Partners (now Faber Maunsell), Oscar Faber (Nigeria), The Steensen Varming Mulcahy Partnership and later as a Partner with John Dallimore and Partners, leaving that Practice in 1994 to form Pentangle Consulting Engineers Limited.

Bill has over 30 years experience in providing total engineering services consultancy to a wide range of Clients, each with their own working practices and needs. He provides the Practice with a wide working knowledge and experience of the building methods of the United Kingdom and International markets. This experience enables an unusually broad variety of projects to be undertaken, sometimes under quite abnormal circumstances and frequently employing unusual construction processes.

He has considerable experience and involvement in the activities of central committees of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and is currently serving as the CIBSE representative at Main Board level on the Electrical Safety Council (formerly the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting, NICEIC where he is currently chairman.

Gordon N Smith
I Eng ACIBSE

Gordon joined the Practice in November 1995, after having previously worked with FHP Consulting Engineers, Ralph T King and Associates, Brian Webb Partnership, Donald Rudd and Partners (now part of the WSP Group) and Steensen Varming Mulcahy and Partners.

Gordon has been in the industry since 1969, during which he has been involved in a diverse range of projects acquiring an extensive understanding of mechanical building services.

His practical approach to the implementation of building services is developed from having spent considerable time in site supervisory roles, acquiring an in-depth understanding of both installation and maintenance considerations which need to be incorporated into the design process.

John Smith BSc
(Hons)

John joined the practice in June 1997 after having previously worked with a number of design practices since 1987. His specialist knowledge base includes Architectural Technology,Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Low Carbon Design and Sustainability.

During his career John has been responsible for managing a diverse range of projects through the design process from concept to handover including all technical, contractual and administration aspects.Johns designs have encompassed industrial, commercial, educational, high end residential and many other specialist areas.

John is responsible for our Brighton office which forms a key part of our planned expansion and provides our clients with further support to assist them within the increasingly diverse built environment,

Qualifications include an HND in Building Services Engineering and BSc (Hons First Class) Architectural Technology.

John has also qualified as a CIBSE low carbon consultant and is an CIBSE qualified low Carbon energy assessor.

 

Colin A Elliott B.Eng
(Hons) MIET

Colin worked for Pentangle for three years prior to rejoining the company in 2007.

Colin joined the industry as an apprentice electrician with a leading electrical contracting company where he gained valuable hands on experience.

He has over 20 years experience in the industry and has worked on a diverse range of projects ranging from theatre refurbishments, casinos, large mixed use developments, schools and sports halls, undertaking the design and the day to day management of these projects to final completion

Colin has worked as a senior/principal engineer for a number of desgn practices including Furness Green Partnership and Waterman Gore.

 

Colin Jones B.Eng
BSc(Hons), I Eng, ACIBSE

Colin joined the Practice in November 2008 to assist in our continued expansion, after having previously worked with Faber Maunsell/AECOM, Atkins, Cundall Johnston & Partners, BBC Building Design Services all at senior levels

Colin has been in the industry since 1985, during which he has been involved in a wide range of prominent and high profile projects in the commercial office, retail, health care, rail broadcasting and laboratory sectors of the industry acquiring an extensive understanding of mechanical building services including VAV, FCU, Chilled beam/Chilled ceiling and Displacement ventilation technologies.

His practical and thorough approach to the implementation of building services is developed from having taken many projects from conception through to completion and defect liability phases acquiring an in-depth understanding of both installation and maintenance considerations which need to be incorporated into the design process.

Colin is currently working toward chartered status and Qualifications include BEng in Building Services Engineering, from the University of Northumbria and a BSc(Hons) in technology subjects from the Open University .

 

Stuart Chapman BSc
(Hons) ACIAT

Stuart joined the practice in March 2007 to strengthen our Architectural Team based in Brighton having gained experience working at a number of architectural practices on a number of projects ranging from Health Care and Scientific Research facilities to Industrial buildings and Housing schemes.

During his career Stuart has gained specialist knowledge in all areas of Architectural Technology, this encompasses all aspects of the architectural design process from conceptual design through to building sign off. Stuart also has experience in 3D Visualisation and animation.

Stuart has a passion for ‘sustainable design’, reflected by research carried out into a new form of modular timber framed construction, which was short listed for the TRADA Innovation in Timber Award 2006.

Stuart qualified from the University of Brighton with a BSc (Hons First Class) in Architectural Technology.

Joseph Shibu BE MSc

Joseph joined the practice in March 2008 to expand our electrical department , after having previously worked with Pentagon Systems and Radilasoft (P) Ltd at a technical level.

Joseph has been in the industry since 1998, during which he has been involved in Electrical Engineering Projects Design acquiring a thorough understanding of Electrical Engineering Services.

His practical and thorough approach to the implementation of building services is developed from having spent considerable time undertaking Electrical Design and Calculations, Lighting Design,RAM (Reliablity Availability and Maintainability) Studies , Site Supervisory roles acquiring an in-depth understanding of both installation and maintenance considerations which need to be incorporated into the design process.

Joseph is currently working toward Chartered Status and qualifications include a Masters Degree in Sustainable Electrical Power from Brunel University West London, UK and Bachelors of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics from Karnatak University,India.
